TAKING BACK MY DAY!!!!!
This morning I got up and had to take a midterm online. This was nice because I didn't have to go to class and it was open book! i worked through it in under an hour....and I got a 68/100!!!! What a load of crap. I don't know what the heck went wrong, but i guess i need to pay more attention in class or something! I am going to have to find a way to get through it, even though i do not particularly like it. The class is Legal Environment...a supposed Business Law class...but to this day I have learned nothing to aid me in the legal workings of a business. Oh well, gotta take it, so Damn the Man and get over it! So I was feeling pretty low at this point....and then D called. She always tells me to suck it up and helps me to see how lucky I am to have a great kid, and this great opportunity to get my degree! I guess the end will justify the means and I decide that it can only get better! I dropped Aidan off at the sitter's (who just happens to be D or Debbie as we know and love her) and headed down to the bike trail. I start walking as I get my ipod situated and start the Podrunner podcast from this past week. (Thanks to Lisa...or Gr8LakesRunningGal for turning me on to this). I started running...easy...and getting into the music. The late morning air was chilly and I was having trouble getting warm. I ran effortlessly and was surprised that I was not more winded. I haven't run in about three weeks. I kept going and when I got to the 2 mile mark, I felt great. I turned around and started back to my car and this was when I finally started to sweat and really feel it. I continued to run easily and would lengthen my stride now and then....speed up a little and then slow down when i felt a side stitch coming on. I finished the trail and continued to walk for a bit down the opposite direction...the music was still going and feeding my soul with the most uplifting beats I have heard in a while. I stretched out a bit and headed back to the car. I was happy to have run and I was happy because I did just that...I ran. I didn't wear my watch, I didn't watch the time, I didn't try for speed. I ran just to run. Today I took back my day from the funk that clouded my morning and I have a renewed sense of ability and purpose. I know what i have to do and how to get it done. I am still a runner. My inspiration is back. Life is good. Amen.

No Title
Well...I don't know what it will take...hopefully I can gain some inspiration from Runnerslounge.com...I just joined this forum and it is very cool. My friend D is still at it and I admire her tenacity and committment. I am petitioning to lengthen the day by 8 hours so I have more time to run, clean, study, .....you get it. i will try for tommorrow...let's see what happens!

Oops, I didn't do it again
Well, three days since my last post and I still have not run. I actually have not run since the 6th! Yikes! I did, however, go on a 16 mile bike ride today with my pal J. After church, i found myself childless for the day. ( Aidan just had to go to his cousins for the day..and then over night...and now all day tomorrow!...I almost cried thinking of being home alone all night without him!:(...but they are having too much fun together!) So, I was on my my way to run...but my knees just weren't feeling it. Honestly, I just wasn't feeling it either. I felt like just running would waste the beautiful day and my enjoyment of it. WHAT you say? Well, running is hard work and it is painful and not pretty...no matter how much I love it. I wanted to enjoy the leaves and the crisp air. So i decided on a trip down one of our local rail trails. It winds through the woods, over bridges that span a long curvy creek and there is also an old train tunnel through one of the hills. On the way back I had to stop and climb up the steep rocky hill and out onto the ledge that is the top of the tunnel entrance, about 40 feet up!!! What a great pic! A passerby that my pal knew had a camera so if i ever get the pic I will post it! All in all it was a lovely day and I did get some decent crosstraining in. I am looking for my motivation to get out and run again! I hope I find it by tomorrow because I am planning on getting up around seven to get out for a long wog(walk/jog). I will let you know how it goes!

And she's off
So, after reading a few other blogs, mostly about women who have started training for/running marathons, I have decided to create my own. I don't expect too many people will actually read it, but if anything I will have an account of all the fantastic and exciting things that go on in my life!...she said with a bit of sarcasm. I recently started running agian (last January) and this past weekend was the race that I had made my first goal. A small hometown 5k that happens during out annual Applefest festivities. The thing that struck me about this race was that I had run it ten years ago in High School. Last year I stood on the corner dowtown watching the race with a ciggarette in my mouth and thinking...what am I doing? I have a beautiful one year old baby boy, I have a decent job, I getting my degree, my family is great...so why do I get through the week so I can go out drinking and partying on the weekend? I had no good answer, so shortly after that I made some changes. I changed my diet, started to exercise, and eventually started to run with my good pal Deb. So here I am a year later, 40 pounds lighter and cigarette free! I ran that race! I did the damn thing! It was a long hard road with some ups and downs but I achieved my goal. I finished in 32:03...pretty dang good for a sometimes runner. So I am seeking motivation from any source to complete my next challenge, a local Turkey Trot 5k in November. I better get my butt in gear and get out there. I can't wait to run tomorrow and smell the leaves that will be crunching under my feet. I love Fall!!!!
